CHANGE OF ADDRESS!!!

Hey everyone,

So I have decided to deactivate this blog and relocate to a new one:  http://www.ecstatic-earth.com/

I am in the process of lining up some natural building work for the Spring and I wanted a proper name and website for myself.  All of these posts have been transferred and I will continue to post the same sort of stuff on there.

That's it! This will be the last post on here, go check the new site!

SunDog Workshop! And a Tiny Garden!

[THIS BLOG HAS MOVED!  All posts from this one can be found at the new one, check it out! http://www.ecstatic-earth.com/ ]

So my girlfriend Margaret and I are two weeks away from our trip to Point Arena, CA for a workshop with the SunDog School of Natural Building.  The teachers are the same guys I had at Cob Cottage Company, Kirk Mobert and Bryan Burnoski, and are some knowledgeable dudes, for sure.  Check out their website, they're running three workshops this summer as of now. http://www.sundogbuilders.net/

Also, Margaret and I made a teeny milk crate garden yesterday for a few veggies and herbs.  This counts as natural building, right?  Recycled? Upcycled? What are the kids calling it these days?

Cob Cottage Company - Grounds Tour 8/2010

[THIS BLOG HAS MOVED!  All posts from this one can be found at the new one, check it out! http://www.ecstatic-earth.com/ ]

As a follow up to my post on the $1,000 House workshop at the Cob Cottage Company I've got a ton of pictures of the land and all of their other buildings.  This is a BIG post and it's a tad extensive, if not excessive, but I can't be the only person out there that needs to see everything I possibly can when it comes to cob and natural building.

The pictures are ordered as if we were doing a walkthrough, more or less.  We'll go from the driveway right up to the gargantuan maple tree at the top of the property.

Spectacular Vernacular

[THIS BLOG HAS MOVED!  All posts from this one can be found at the new one, check it out! http://www.ecstatic-earth.com/ ]

In the spirit of more book sharing, I thought I'd post some pictures I took from the interior of Spectacular Vernacular.  I took them while at the Cob Cottage Company, under the impression that the book was out of print and I'd never find it again, but it turns out only the hardcover is out of print and the softcover is around $25 on Amazon.  Oh well.

I just sort of skimmed through and took pictures of all of the exciting looking buildings.  If you dig African architecture make sure you buy the book!

Cob Cottage Company - $1,000 House workshop - 8/2010

[THIS BLOG HAS MOVED!  All posts from this one can be found at the new one, check it out! http://www.ecstatic-earth.com/ ]

Back in August of 2010 I went to a workshop at the Cob Cottage Company.  It was their three week long, comprehensive cob course, The $1,000 House.  While I was there I took more pictures than I needed to, mostly for myself, but also with the intention of sharing with others.  So here you are!  Check it out to see the full build from start to finish and get an idea of what goes on there.
